It’s hard to believe we are already starting a new year. I hope that everyone had an enjoyable holiday season and that 2018 is a good year for each of you. Our program in January will be given by the Lane County History Museum. The program is titled “What was Wendling? History of working class loggers in rural Oregon”.
Have you done any community service this year? Did you spend time helping at your church or did you help in your child’s or grandchild’s school? These and many other activities count as Service to America. NSDAR has a goal of 19 million hours during the Dillon Administration. They chose 19 million because we will be celebrating the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote in 2020. If you have service hours to report, you can do them online on the DAR member’s only website. If you need help, contact us.
Thank you to all volunteers who worked at the Barnes and Noble gift wrapping. Our other fundraiser of the year will be in February when we work on February 17, 2018 at the Asian Celebration. We will have a signup sheet at the January and February meetings. Please plan on helping if you can. I have always found it to be fun and a good way to meet other members.
